Tripudio Movement Systems
Fun Fitness for Rehabilitation and Health
Tripudio Movement Systems combines stretching and strengthening with a gentle aerobic workout. Movements are taken from physiotherapy, Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi, dance and somatics and are combined to exercise segments and dances that are set to music. The class can be taken standing or seated. Tripudio is therefore ideally suited to mixed levels of fitness and everyone can work to his or her own ability.
Tripudio Movement Systems was developed in line with recent insights into the fluid system of the body - especially the lymphatic system - the role of scar tissue in movement restrictions and myofascial release. Tripudio is aimed at post-surgical rehabilitation, such as breast cancer or prostate cancer, to help improve lymphatic flow and help with lymphoedema management. Those with chronic illnesses may also benefit, as may post-natal women, especially post-caesarian, where lymph flow can be inhibited through scar tissue and trauma.
Stretching has been shown to help reduce scar tissue and may therefore help lymph flow in the affected areas.
Gentle aerobic workouts are generally recommended in rehabilitation and management of many conditions, ranging from fibromyalgia to post cardiac arrest rehabilitation. Aerobic workouts can also help to control weight and are fun. As Tripudio is designed for rehabilitation, these workouts are gentle. Gentleness also avoids aggravating inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis. The dances are also interspersed with more restful exercise segments to allow the heart rate to return to normal.
Strengthening is vital for many of us and has also been recommended for many conditions, including, for example fibromyalgia. In lower back pain too, strengthening the core muscles whilst stretching the back is generally recommended. Senior citizens and those with movement restrictions also benefit from strengthening legs and upper bodies. Strengthening is also though vital to prevent and manage osteoporosis. However, strengthening exercises need to be introduced in a controlled way, especially after surgery, to avoid possible health complications.
